It can be defined as the doctrine or cult of spirits. This movement is understood as an attempt to communicate with the dead in the realm of the dead. Levitations are practised by spiritists on all continents. The word is derived from the Latin levitas (lightness, mobility) and the verb levare (to lighten, lift, raise).<\/p>\n<p>During spiritistic levitations, the earth&rsquo;s gravity seems to be cancelled out. People float to the ceiling. The so-called sledge phenomenon is also part of this devil&rsquo;s play:<\/p>\n<p>A farmhouse in the Alps was haunted, but only in the presence of the house&rsquo;s 14-year-old son. As the boy lay down in his bed, it was lifted by an invisible force and moved like a sledge. A professor, an electrical engineer and a parapsychologist investigated the incident several times without finding the cause.
