Observation at the World Karate Championships: The vice world champion was given a board about 4 cm thick, concentrated for a second on this material and then chopped it up with an edge strike from his right hand. He immediately added a second experiment. Three bricks measuring 7 x 12 x 24 were placed on top of each other on a solid stool. A single blow with the edge of the hand and all three bricks broke apart. An amazing performance by the human body. The arms and legs of karate fighters are murderous weapons. A flat edge strike to the root of an opponent’s nose and he is dead.

Karate took a metaphysical turn in the first century through its fusion with Zen Buddhism. The fusion between the physical training of karate and the mystical background of Zen was so intense that descriptions of karate include the equation: karate is Zen, Zen is karate.

What ideas has Karate adopted from Zen Buddhism? First of all, the basic principle of the unity of mind and body, even with the superiority of the mind over the material. This echoes concepts found in modern medicine in psychosomatics. The total union and fusion of mind and body is achieved through meditation. For this reason, meditation exercises play an important role in karate training centres. The training programme begins each day with a full hour of Zen meditation.

In karate, for example, there are 1,000 points on the human body where a little pressure can cause painful or even serious reactions.  A perfect knowledge of the anatomy of the body is by no means the end of the lesson. The essential and uncanny thing about karate is the fighter’s contact with the metaphysical. Zen Buddhism teaches that human consciousness is one with the universal world consciousness. The human mind is a part of the great cosmic mind. The main part of karate training is to strengthen contact with the supersensible world. A Zen textbook states: “Zen also creates the conditions in which one can transcend the limitations of the flesh and enter a realm that is closer to the divine. In other words, Zen creates a condition in which man can transcend the limitations of the flesh and enter a realm that is more nearly divine. Here we are at the heart of karate training. The fighter must develop psychic, metaphysical and mediumistic powers during his many years of training, which can last 20 years or more.

Almost all Asian martial arts, apart from the physical training, have a medial side. For example, Chinese Kung Fu or Kempo, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu or Aikido (source: “Okkultes ABC”; Dr Kurt E. Koch).

“Today, karate is often taught in conjunction with transcendental meditation and yoga in order to develop psychic, mediumistic powers in the student. Meditation is the essence and places these exercises in the group of occult religions. In ways that we do not fully understand, the training opens the way for the penetration of demonic spirits, which then burden the trainee”. … “Because karate is heavily mixed with the occult, practitioners come under a curse that can affect them into the third and fourth generations.” (Source: “Battling the Hosts of Hell”, Win Worley)

Professor Peters defines autogenic training as follows: “A method of concentrative self-relaxation that can be learned under medical supervision. Through relaxation exercises that can be learnt step by step, an increasing autosuggestive influence on involuntary bodily functions is achieved. The method is used to balance inner tension, improve performance, strengthen memory, influence pain and achieve self-control.”

According to Professor Kretschmer, autogenic training is a further development of hypnosis. Referring to Prof J. H. Schultz, he describes this therapy technique as follows “Prof. J. H. Schultz developed a completely independent method which he called autogenic training, based partly on hypnosis experience and partly on Indian traditions. It consists of a series of carefully thought-out and biologically meaningful exercises designed to progressively improve, relax and deepen the control of the organism and the associated mental attitude of the personality from the outside to the inside, and to differentiate this healing influence down to the individual organs and functions of the body”.

In autogenic training, the therapeutic path leads from thinking or imagining through feeling to realisation in the organic. The best example is weightlessness. The process is as follows

1. mental concentration on the experiment.
2. imagination: the right arm is heavy, very heavy.
3. after prolonged practice, the patient actually experiences the feeling of heaviness.

Conversely, the sensation of warmth or heat can also be created. Dr Senn cites the example of a patient who had a cold hairpin placed on the back of his hand. The doctor then signalled that the needle was red-hot. This caused a burn on the hand, even though the needle remained completely cold. There is another problem. When the patient’s psyche gives the command: Needle red-hot, where does this heat come from? Without realising it, the doctor is leading the patient into the realm of magic. Schultz therefore called the process of self-hypnosis “fakirism”. The references to shamanism and yoga show that we are dealing with Eastern mysticism and magical practices. To the question of whether autogenic training should be practised, Dr Senn replies at the end of his booklet: “No, because autogenic training is an occult practice. It is parallel and related to the magical rites of the shamans, the meditative cures of the yogis and the ritual healing ceremonies of the African medicine men. The artificial creation of passivity through self-absorption is a gateway to unknown powers.

Occult additives when using herbs

Dr. Kurt E. Koch became aware of massive sorcery using herbs through his pastoral work. He reports the following in his book “Okkultes ABC”: In a region of Switzerland, 7 different grasses are taken from different fields. Hot water is poured over them. The brew is given to a sick person in a bath and a saying from the so-called 6th/7th book of Moses is recited. This is a magical treatment that almost always helps. However, the patient treated in this way is then under an occult burden. To avoid any misunderstanding, it should be pointed out that there are no special herbs involved. Only the number 7 plays a role. In some areas they must be taken during the waning moon and before sunrise.

There are many forms of this herbal magic. In some areas of Germany it has to be 3 times 3 different herbs. The symbolism of numbers seems to play a role. In the Bible, the number 7 is considered a holy number. And the number three is said to refer to the Trinity.

Mixing with religious superstition

Every year on 15 August, the “Feast of Assumption”, the ritual of the consecration of herbs, also known as the blessing of herbs, has taken place in the Catholic Church for centuries. Various herbs are tied into bouquets and then taken to be blessed or consecrated. The consecration of herbs takes place before Mass on Assumption Day. The day is therefore known as the consecration of Mary (Maria Würzweihe). The formulas for the consecration have changed slightly over time. The consecrated bouquet is placed under the rafters to protect the house, especially from lightning. Occasionally, a bouquet is hung in the barn to ensure that the cattle, especially the goats, produce healthy offspring. A cow that has just calved is given a decoction of a boiled herb bundle in its first drink. The herb bundle was, and still is, used to treat human and animal ailments by applying the herbs externally to the affected part of the body. The herbs can also be mixed with beeswax on a dustpan and set on fire. The smoke is said to heal. (Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung 15.8.1983)

Kurt E. Koch: This is clearly not only religious superstition, but also white magic. And all this is done with the approval or even the blessing of the Church.

It is a board with an alphabet, numbers and the words yes and no. A movable pointing device completes the “game”, which was invented in 1891 by the American Elijah Bond. Especially in English speaking countries, the Ouija Board has become a popular “party game”.

During a session with the Ouija Board, the game leader communicates with spirits or the deceased so that the participants can ask them questions. The questions can be about the past or the future. The pointer moves to each letter, which then gives the answer. Attempts to give a plausible explanation for the ghostly movement of the pointer are not satisfactory.

Dr Kurt E. Koch: “American psychologists try to play down this game. They claim that it can only bring to light the contents of our subconscious. This claim is easily refuted. After all, hidden things of the past and the future are revealed that cannot be anchored in our subconscious.”

Why is the Ouija Board not harmless, what are the dangers?

Participating in a séance is never harmless. As with other magical practices, the use of this game must be warned against. Playing with the devil has consequences and is not really a game. As one New York psychiatrist explained, “The Ouija Board is filling the New York psychiatric hospitals for us”.

Among the participants, mediumistic psychoses are common. As Goethe put it in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: “I can no longer get rid of the spirits I have called.” This means that the “spirit” (actually Satan) influences people, their actions and also their decisions. Even if one does not want to admit that the devil is behind it, a suggestive power is triggered in the participant. This can also be observed in other forms of divination.

Let me give you an example: a participant asks the date of his death or the question about his future spouse. If the answer is negative, this leads to tremendous anxiety and stress.

Delusions, hallucinations, paranoia and other obsessive-compulsive symptoms, also known as neurosis, are also common among people who practise magic.

Ouija Board Diagnosis

In North America and Europe there are many alternative practitioners who use the Ouija Board to make diagnoses. The method is different. Some naturopaths place their left hand on the patient’s arm and use their right hand to move the pendulum or glass over the board to determine the disease. For healers with a strong mediumistic bent, the patient need not be present at all. It is enough for the healer to focus mentally on the patient.

It is parallel and related to the magical rites of the shamans, the meditation cures of the Jogi and the ritual healing ceremonies of the African medicine men. The artificial production of passivity through self-submersion is an open door into which unknown powers flow.

Ex. 98. A man in a Christian convalescent home had the power to cast and break spells. He could stop a person in the street so that they could neither move nor speak. A man who was known for his black magic came by and asked: “Mariechen, how many geese do you have?” The child told him the number. The man moved on. Suddenly, one goose after another collapsed and died. The girl ran home and told her father what had happened. The father immediately ran to the water and muttered a saying from the 6th/7th Book of Moses. The deaths of the geese stopped immediately.

What is the situation in this family now? The goose girl had suffered from depression all her life. She wanted to believe, tried to come to Christ, but could not. The narrator, the granddaughter of the magical banner, sees visions and has strong inhibitions about faith. Her son, the great-grandson, is mentally ill, has delusions and is in a psychiatric hospital for the third time. Magic always has its victims. Magic powers always have a high price.
